Fantastic culmination of the 2019 Moosehead Slopitch League season with a Game 7 Final on the Stephenson Field at the Forest Hills Complex between the PREMIUM DRY DIVISION Pennant Winners, Port City Seagulls and the #2 Seed Blush Coors Light Silver Bullets.
After being down 3-1 in the series, the Silver Bullets battled back in Games 5 & 6 to force Game 7 in which the Seagulls took the early lead in the game. Just the they did for the series Blush never quick and fought back to pull out the victory after holding the Seagulls in the bottom of the 9th to claim the PREMIUM DRY DIVISION Play-Off Championship!
Congratulations to both the Port City Seagulls and the Blush Coors Light Silver Bullets on fantastic seasons!

Jeff Lecointe lead the Grays to the Moosehead Division Championship both pitching the win and at the dish driving in 8 RBI. Shayne Betts and Mark Hanson also had big games with the twigs as did the rest of the Grays in this total team effort as the Grays win the series 4-2.

Simply stellar evening last night for Moosehead Slopitch League Division Finals. We had all 4 Divisions battling last night including 8 teams using 3 fields, all looking to claim their respective Division Championships.

Port City jumps all over Blush to take an early 2-1 series lead in the PREMIUM DRY DIVISION Finals.

The Silver Bullets put up a good fight, but eventually fall to the Seagulls who now have a commanding 3-1 Series Lead in this Best of 7

For once this year Dillyn Ryan Wilson lead the EH-TeaM to a DuB-a-U going 5/5 thanks to Stanley making all 5 errors. (Errors are hits in slo pitch(FYI)). Randy Flecknelahdhfogllllll and Dan Saunders did ok themselves only going 4/5....... meh. Mike James got carried again to another pitching win without a K as the EH-Team fight back to grab a victory and bring the Best of 7 Division Finals to 2-1.

Big night in the Moosehead Slopitch League last night as we had all 4 Division Finals kick off with Double Headers at the Forest Hills Complex on a great evening for softball in Saint John.
ALPINE DIVISION
Beavers 16 Expos 20
The #1 Seed Expos kicked off their Best of 7 Division Finals with a win over the #5 Seed Beavers. Kris Godin spun the game from the mound while Tim Tobin went 3/4 with a Homerun, Mike Blyth went 3/5 with a Homerun and Rob Moore also went 3/5.

Mike Blyth sparked his team again at the plate by going 5/6 with 2 more Homeruns, Scotty Whalen and Phil Rocca both also went 5/6, helping Kris Godin and the Expos pick up their 2nd Win of the evening over the Beavers and take a big 2-0 Series lead in the ALPINE DIVISION Finals.

Chris Carrier chucked the win and batted 1.000 by going 4/4 and Pete McNeil was also perfect at the plate going 3/3 sparking the Pirate to a big Game 1 victory of the Krakens to lead the Best of 7 Division Finals 1-0.

The #1 Seed Pirates take an early 2-0 lead over the #2 Seed Kraken as the win both games of the evenings double header. From the mound Jason Watson tossed a great game, allowing Kevin Baraly who went 3/4 with a Homerun and Mark Bossenberry (4/5) lead the charge at the plate for the Pirates.

Jeff Lecointe pitched the win while going 4/5 at the plate, Bernie Desmond destroyed two balls into the trees while going a perfect 4/4 and Chris Cameron went also batted 1.000 going 4/4, pushing the Hometown Grays to a big Game 1 victory over the EH-TeaM and take a 1-0 series lead in the Best of 7 Division Finals.

The #2 Seed Hometown Grays own an early impressive 2-0 Series lead over the #1 Seed EH-TeaM in the division finals, by following the impressive evening lead provided by Bernie Desmond who kept his hitting streak intact going a perfect 5/5 with another monster blast. Also helping the Grays and Jeff Lecointe pick up their 2nd win of the evening was Brandon Barnes who went 3/4 and made some stellar defensive plays in the field. Wayne Shannon on the other hand, gave the Grays a reason to look forward to Games 3 and 4 as he owes the team a case of cold ones due to a big backwards K watching strike 3 hit the big orange mat.

A damp, misty, sometimes rainy evening at the Forest Hills ball field last night, but we had 2 series on the go in big games. One Clancy's Amber Ale Division Series playing Games 4 & 5 and one Moosehead Division Series playing Games 3 & 4 if necessary.

Cody Lefrancois picked up the pitching win, while Neil Withers went 5/6 and smashed 2 Homeruns, George Byers batted 1.000 by going perfect at 5/5 and Matt Brown added 4 hits forcing a deciding Game 5.

Kristian Fraser pitched, Cale "Lettuce" Lefrancois went 4/4 with his first Homerun, Dave Finley also goes a perfect 4/4, while Jordan Larsen Goes 3/4 including the walk off single, which was required due to his previous Strike Outs, all leading to a Game 5 and series victory for the Krakens to move onto the Finals against the Pirates.

Jeff Lecointe pitched the win as the ECOHEAT HOMETOWN GRAYS sweep the Brew Crew 3 straight. Greg Ingalls was 3/4 while Shayne Betts was 2/2 with an inside the park Grand Slam, Chris Cameron also chipped in with 2 hits.

Dan Hick, Curtis Green and Jeremy MacAulay lead the way offensively while Curtis Green spun the win giving the Beavers the win in the game and a 3-1 Series victory over the #2 seed Molson Mound Pounders.
The Beavers will now face off against the #1 seed Expos in the Finals starting on Tuesday Night at the O'Brien.

Giants 0 The Crown EH-TeaM 1
Mike James and Jonny Hill shared the pitching duty in a very good battle Sunday evening vs the Giants that went extra innings. The EH-TeaM battled back in the last inning with Pat Patchell delivering the walk off hit to send his team to the finals.

Nice evening of ball last night at Forest Hills, as we saw the Moosehead Division Semi Finals kick off and the Premium Dry Division Semis finish, setting up a repeat in the Finals.

Very good battle to start the series and double header between the Giants and EH-TeaM, with the EH-TeaM winning 14-12 in the last innings. Leading the way for the winning team was Dan Saunders going 5/5 with 2 doubles and Jonny Hill went 4/4 with a Homerun, as the EH-TeaM take an early 1-0 Series lead.

Brew Crew treated the Marlins like Old Yeller and decided it was time to take them out but instead of 1 bullet they used 22 runs instead. Mike McLaughlin went 5/5 with 2 doubles, Brandon "Still got my $20" Hanson went 4/4 and Chris MacGregor who pitched the win helped his own cause by going 3/4 as the Brew Crew win Game 5 setting up a Semi Final matchup against the Ecoheat Hometown Grays starting Tuesday Night on O'Brien.

The Pounders tie their series with the Beavers at one game a piece. Where theres smoke theres fire and Andy Daley paced the Pounders going 5/5. Big Joe Mahoney rocked the park with 3 big hits and Ryan Boyce hit a little league Homerun and pitched the win. Kyle "Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children" Logan was in attendence.

For the Ballerz, Donnie Plourde, Rob Chapple and Dave Daly Jr all went 2/3, while Craig Cormier and Ronnie Robertson pitched.

Foggy night in the city, but we managed to get all games in, pushing through so 11 games, on 3 fields involving 18 teams and 3 Divisions, can get their regularly schedule evening of ball in.

Darryl Heeney went 3/3, also went Jason Praught 3/3 with 2 Homeruns, including a shot that landed in Kenny Donovan’s living room. Tim O’Blenis with a pinch hit 3 run Homerun that ended up being the difference in the hard fought game. Dave Parlee and Kevin Hoyt split the pitching and shared the win as the Castaways take a 2-0 lead over the Regulators in the Best of Five Quarter Finals. Game 3 goes Friday at 9:00 PM on O'Brien.

Ryan Fanjoy, Tom Sabean and Matt Duguay all hit Homeruns as the Giants bats come alive with 33 hits. Jamie Richard continued the trend by going 4/4 and giving Anthony Loatman and the Giants the victory. The Giants move on to the Semi Finals.

Brandon "Juice Monkey" Hanson went 6/6 with 2 Homeruns and a double, Kris Sewell went 5/7 with 3 doubles and a walk and Nick Spencer went 5/7 hitting for the cycle with 2 Homeruns, a triple and a double giving Chris MacGregor and the Brew Crew a needed win to stay alive in the Best of Five Quarter Finals evening the series 2-2 with the Marlins.
Marlins struggled at the dish besides Chris Arseneau (3/4), Jon Allen (3/4) and Josh Duffy (2/4) who also hit a Homerun. Nick Binns and Mike Murray split the pitching loss.
The Final and deciding game of the series goes on Monday 9:00 PM on O'Brien.

We had simply one of the best nights for ball that we've had all summer last night. Sure, the 6pm game was HOT, but couldn't ask for a better evening to get out and play some Play-Off ball and drink a beveridge or two with your team. 14 Teams across 3 Divisions and 2 Fields were lucky enough to enjoy the evening.

Tim Leaghy also went 4 for 4 for the Marauders in the tie.

Matt Manuel lead the way for the EH-TeaM going 5/5, Morgan Sullivan had a day as well going 4/4 with a switch hit Homerun and a double. Pat Patchell added in a 4/4 night including a parking lot Homerun in the 1st.

The Executive, along with Tim O'Blenis and Gordie Plagenz are looking for feedback on how many folks are interested in participating in the HOME RUN DERBY. This will take place on Sunday prior to the finals at 11:30 am. The derby will be limited to 20 participants with 10 swings per person and the cost will be $5 to participate.
The Derby will be using our normal Hot Dot balls, along with the League supplied Wooden Bats (or your own approved wooden bat).
**Current plan is to only allow All-Star participants, however if we don't get 20 participants we will open to other League Members on a First Response, First Selected basis, so everyone please respond if you are interested.**

Somewhat of a lackluster turn out to what seemed to be a great evening at the Grove Lounge for those that made it out and enjoyed the perks, that Gordie and Tim were able to provide us on behalf of Moosehead Breweries.
13 Rounds of nail biting drafting took place as the Executive (and me for Matt Brown's team) began the battle with stare downs and trash talk. The final results on paper appear to be 4 great teams, but we will have to wait for Next weekend July 13th and 14th to see how those teams play together on the field.

Rain dates are to be determined. Once rain dates have been solidified by Exec with City teams will be notified.

The Beavers lost, but it wasn't because of pither Curtis Green who went 4 for 4 helping out his own cause. Joe Chiasson (4/5) and Mike Votour (4/5) both hit Homeruns and Evan McAulay (3/4) pounded the ball doing their best to back Curtis up.

Mike James battled all game on the mound vs a run hungry Grays team that answered back with 17 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning after giving up 18 in the top of the 1st which took 35 mins to complete. Pat Patchell lead the way for the EH-TeaM going 5/5 with 5 rockets. Jay Bennett went 4/5 crushing 2 Homeruns while adding a double. Joe Beaton had another good day at the plate going 3/4 with 2 doubles.
Jeff Lecointe and John Williams shared the pitching duties in a hard fought loss to the EH-Team. Top hitters for the Grays were Mark Hanson (4/4) and Wayne Shannon (4/4) who both had a double and a Homerun and Dan Larlee (3/4) provided some pop with 2 homeruns.

The City has closed all sports fields today as such 4 scheduled games will need to be re-scheduled. This includes 4 ALPINE DIVISION regularly scheduled games and 3 CLANCY'S AMBER ALE DIVISION re-scheduled games.
The game between the Hitmen and Clark GM FTrail Marauders was previously deemed as a forfeit by the Clark GM FTrail Marauders, giving the Hitmen a 9-0 win.
Rain dates are to be determined. Once rain dates have been solidified by Exec with City teams will be notified.
